Hello everyone!

GUESS WHAT. I got to travel toTaiwan for the first time last week!

The food, the people, and scenery was absolutely amazing. If you’re looking to go for a short trip, here are some must see sights!!

1. Shifen Waterfall

It’s located in the Pingxi District in Taipei. After crossing the bridge, there is a small resting area where you can buy snacks, little souvenirs, and take pictures with animal statues! (Because who wouldn’t want to do that!?) you can also visit a small temple there as well.

I got to try my first Java apple there. If you’ve never heard of it look it up. It actually tastes nothing like an apple. More similar to a pear or a watermelon? It’s a sweet, bell-shaped fruit that’s juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside!

Definitely recommend trying it. Or any other unique foods you find there.

2. Shifen Old Street

This street is known for the lanterns, souvenir shops, and best of all, street food.

A must do activity here is to get a lantern, write your wishes on all four sides, and set them free into the sky! Then wait for them to come true 😊. You can choose which colors you want your lantern to be and each one represents a meaning. For example, red is for health, yellow is for wealth, pink is for love, and purple is for success in your career.

Some streets foods we tried were chicken wings filled with fried rice, fried ice cream, and peanut icecream with cilantro.

3. Jiufen

Ever heard of Jiufen? If not, I’m sure you’ve heard of Spirited Away the Japanese movie! Jiufen is said to be where Miyazaki Hayao, the director of this movie, was inspired in the early stages of creating Spirited Away. Some of his sketches of the movie highly resemble the town of Jiufen. Here are some pictures that you might recognize from the movie!

4. Shilin Market

This is the perfect place to go if you can’t decide where to eat for dinner. There are endless streets of food vendors with many delicious things to try.

The food here is super cheap as well as all the clothing stores. Make sure to go with a big group of people so you can try a little bit of everything!

Well these were the highlights of my Taiwan trip!  Where would you like to go in Taiwan?
