Hello!

It’s me Terra, here to share with you a perfect spot to experience some Hong Kong culture!

Ever heard of Dong ling cha? It’s an authentic iced lemon tea created and loved by the people of Hong Kong. If you haven’t tried it yet, you’re missing out!!

When I first came to Hong Kong I noticed that many restaurants served hot tea instead of water. It was a custom I wasn’t used to because I usually like cold drinks with my meals. Even when I asked for water it would always come out luke warm without ice so when I found out that the cold and refreshing dong ling cha was a Hong Kong favorite I was surprised.

If you’re new to Hong Kong, I recommend going to Kam Kee Cafe. It has a retro vibe to the place that makes you feel like you’ve traveled back in time to 70’s Hong Kong.

Even their menus had style.

They were established in 1967, but had to close down when rent prices skyrocketed. Many years later, Kam Kee was able to successfully reopen in Sai Wan on April 23rd, 2013.

Kam Kee was awarded “Best Restaurant in Central and Western” in 2016 and have locations in other areas such as Wan Chai, Causeway Bay, Wong Tai Sin, Tsuen Wan, Kowloon Tong, and North Point. Not only do they offer delicious drinks, they have a variety of traditional Hong Kong style food. Some of them include; Lo sung tong, Lai cha, Sai do si, and Hong dau bing! (If you don’t know what these are, you’ll have to order them and see for yourself 😆) It’s a perfect place to stop by and grab a bite while sightseeing!

Here are a couple meals my coworkers and I enjoyed!

Kam Kee Cafe has officially become my new “starbucks” (If you know what I mean😉) My go to for food right before practice or a little study session with my fellow coworker! The best part is, it’s only a 3 minute walk from the salon!

Maybe next time you get your hair done at Assort Hong Kong you can also check out Kam Kee Cafe for a cup of tea!
