1. Hey everyone it’s me Terra!

This week, I want to introduce to you one of the many desserts Hong Kong has to offer. One that isn’t actually Hong Kong style.. BUT ITALIAN!!

3 Italiani

They are located on Jaffe Road, Causeway bay, among with the rest of Hong Kong’s well known dessert shops!

They have a large variety of flavors. Some very unique such as wasabi chocolate, kinder bueno, and cheesecake nutella!

During our visit, we happened to meet the manager who told us a little about the company.

Massimo Gagliardi and Gianluca Gagliardi are the brothers who started 3 Italiani along with gelatiere Vincenzo Iannacone. Vincenzo strives for quality therefore all the ingredients used in his gelatos are hand picked. He goes the extra mile to provide his customers with authentic flavors. Mangoes from the Philippines, hazelnuts from Piemont, truly the best of the best!

The manager was kind enough to explain to us the process of making gelato in the store!

There are 4 steps:
1. Pasteurization
2. Maturation
3. Freezing
4. Dejection

The first pasteurize the milk to kill the germs. Second they add milk cream and the flavor which gets mixed in this machine.

He said the key ingredients that are necessary to make gelato are milk, honey, sugar, and water. It’s also important to not add too much sugar or else it causes gelatos to melt faster. Who knew!!

In total it takes about 30-40min for it to be done and you can see this entire process through the glass windows.

BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE.

Not only do they have the best gelatos the have creamiest cheesecakes! Before they serve the cheesecakes, they pop them into the blast freezer then microwave until it becomes the perfect texture. It’s very light and fluffy so you can easily eat one by yourself!

Now you know, Hong Kong has more than just tong sui desserts, egg waffles, and bubble tea! 😊
