Hello everyone this is Terra!

Ever been to Lamma Island? It has been on my “places to go” list ever since I moved to Hong Kong and FINALLY, I had the opportunity to go with a friend just last Tuesday!

Lamma Island is the third largest island in Hong Kong known for it’s beautiful nature, hiking trails, and delicious seafood.

There are ferries departing to two different areas of the island. Sok Kwu Wan and Yeung Shue Wan. Many visitors go to Yueng Shue Wan first because there are more shops to look around and restaurants to sit down and eat at. My friend and I actually were planning to go with that plan, but we were one second too late and ended up going the opposite route. But it worked out fine! Sok Kwu Wan had some seafood shops outside as well as small vendors and souvenir shops where we bought a couple snacks to munch while walking around.

I highly recommend trying the squid balls, shiu mai, and mango mochi!!

We also passed by a Tin Hau temple by the ocean! Fun fact: If you look closely, the lions guarding the tin hau temple on lamma island look different from other ones you’ll see in Hong Kong. Wonder why? Well, the original lions were destroyed in the 1960s so specialists in western-style stone lions were hired to replace the statues at this particular temple!

My friend and I both brought our film cameras and discovered many beautiful things Lamma Island had to offer. From stray dogs running around, the leaves changing in color, a shiny seashell in the mudflats, or even the unique design on the wall. Everything seemed artistic and was worth capturing on our cameras. ☺️

We first walked on the trail alongside the beach where you can see the fishing villages and boats floating around. As you go up higher, you’ll see the mountains below you and further out into the ocean. Some parts of the trail may be a bit steep, but it is definitely worth climbing all the way to the top.

If you get tired, you can take a quick break at the resting spot where you can buy some snacks or fresh cut pineapples!

Or if you’re ready for dinner, you can head down to the restaurants for some fresh seafood! There are a lot of restaurants so make sure to check out all your options.

There is so much to see and do on Lamma Island, and these are just a couple places we visited! Would recommend visiting here 10/10 if you are in Hong Kong!

See you in my next trip!!
